The Division of Operative Dentistry in the Indiana University School of Dentistry (IUSD) on the Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) campus is currently recruiting for a program director in graduate cariology and operative dentistry. The appointment will be a full-time (0.8 or 1.0 FTE) faculty position at the rank of associate or full professor for IUSD. The qualified candidate should have a strong clinical background and extensive experience teaching and conducting research in cariology and operative dentistry.
The graduate program director (GPD) is responsible for managing all aspects of the graduate program, advising students on academic matters, and monitoring student performance and progress. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to management of the program curriculum ensuring content remains relevant and up to date; coordination of faculty for clinic sessions, didactic courses, and student research; overseeing student admissions; monitoring student progress to ensure timely completion of degrees; mentoring student research projects; resolving problems; and fostering a social climate conducive to camaraderie and learning. The GPD is the primary educator for didactic courses and the chief mentor for graduate clinic activities. The GPD ensures adherence to all university and dental school policies and procedures within the program by faculty, students, and staff.

Required Qualifications: (1) DDS/DMD or equivalent. (2) eligible for dental licensure in the state of Indiana. (3) after dental school graduation, at least 5 years of clinical experience performing operative/restorative dentistry procedures. (4) significant operative dentistry or cariology teaching experience including clinical mentoring and didactic instruction. (5) completion of graduate program earning master’s degree in operative/restorative dentistry or cariology.
Preferred Qualifications: (1) Board certified or eligible for certification in operative dentistry. (2) significant experience teaching graduate-level operative/cariology dentistry. (3) significant experience conducting and mentoring student research in cariology and operative dentistry.

Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor

The University of Florida College of Dentistry (UFCD) is seeking applications for a full-time clinical track faculty position in the Department of Restorative Dental Sciences, Division of Operative Dentistry at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank. UFCD is one of the leading dental schools in the United States devoted to improving and promoting oral health throughout Florida, the nation and worldwide through excellence in teaching, research, patient care and service.
Responsibilities include didactic, preclinical and clinical instruction within the DMD program and graduate programs, including serving as a course director, participation in intramural faculty practice, excellence in academic pursuits and service, and include opportunities for participation in the development of departmental research and/or other scholarly activities. Minimum requirements: DDS, DMD, or equivalent dental degree. Preferred qualifications: post-graduate training in operative dentistry from a CODA accredited institution, teaching experience that has prepared the candidate to be a course director in operative dentistry, and clinical practice experience. Applicants should possess the skills and knowledge to provide clinical coverage in all aspects of general dentistry. As well as being a strong clinician, applicant should be organized, open minded, dedicated to teaching students according to the guidelines set by the department, proficient with technology and the use of electronic health records, abreast of current evidence-based dentistry and possess excellent communication skills.
